OfficeMate Enterprise Barcode Documentation Wins Award of Excellence
Irvine, CA, February 11, 2009 – Eyefinity/OfficeMate is pleased to announce that its "Scanning & Printing Barcodes with OfficeMate Enterprise" document won a prestigious Award of Excellence in the 2008–2009 Society for Technical Communication (STC) Southern California Technical Communication Competition. This regional competition included entries from eight Southern California STC chapters.
Carrie Damschroder, Director of Documentation, wrote and edited the instructional document and entered it into the Technical Publications/Reference Materials portion of the competition.
The competition judges acknowledged that the "Scanning & Printing Barcodes with OfficeMate Enterprise" document is "professionally done and is easy to follow." Other positive feedback noted by the judges includes the following comments:
- I really like the layout of the guide.
- Overall, the writing in this guide is good. It is detailed and appropriate for the audience.
- The screenshots are colorful and are good quality.
- The conventions used in this guide grab the user's attention. I like how the Note and Caution conventions are used. Instead of adding two notes or cautions next to each other, the author uses one note or caution and lists the information in bullet points within that note or caution.
The Southern California STC chapters sponsored the technical publications competition to determine, recognize, and encourage excellence in communication through printed and online media. This competition honors technical writers and editors who set the standards for published technical communication.
Eyefinity/OfficeMate received its Award of Excellence at a Spotlight Awards Banquet in San Juan Capistrano, CA, on January 24, 2009. Carrie Damschroder, Director of Documentation, noted that she is “honored to have won the fourth Award of Excellence for Eyefinity/OfficeMate documentation in five years. It is obvious that Eyefinity/OfficeMate is committed to educating its clients through user documentation that meets the highest quality standards in the technical communication community.”
