When will v9 be released?

OfficeMate/ExamWRITER v9 is now available through MyInstallCenter as a staggered release. By "staggered," we mean the release of v9 is being released to groups of clients rather than to everyone at once.To request a Site Key, log into MyInstallCenter and click the Request a Site Key link. Customers will be selected to receive a Site Key on a first-come–first-serve basis. We will do our best to meet the needs of our customers while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

What products are included in v9?

The entire suite of OfficeMate products has been upgraded. You will be eligible to upgrade only those programs that are currently licensed to your practice. If you wish to license additional programs, contact our Sales Team at 800.269.3666.

What are the changes to the system requirements?

It is extremely important that your office meets the hardware and system requirements prior to upgrading to v9. Refer to the Hardware and System Requirements page for a complete list of hardware, software, peripheral, and network requirements.

I read the OfficeMate/ExamWRITER v9 Hardware and System Requirements, but what are the minimum requirements?

Who can upgrade to v9?

OfficeMate/ExamWRITER v9 provides a scalable practice management system and/or electronic medical record solution to all existing clients including OfficeMate and ExamWRITER clients with a current ASMA.

Do I have to upgrade?

Upgrading is recommended, but it is not required. If you do not upgrade, you will miss out on the new and exciting features that will be available with v9. Furthermore, v9 is a catalyst toward our certified version that positions you to receive federal stimulus money available through the HITECH Act.

Will there be support for earlier versions?

All support for earlier versions will continue at this time.

What tools are being offered to help me upgrade?

MyInstallCenter is a new Web-based tool, which is available for existing clients to assist in assessing hardware requirements, creating a customized training plan, and tracking your progress.

How much will the software upgrade cost?

There is no fee to upgrade to v9. The upgrade is included as part of your Annual Software Maintenance Agreement (ASMA).  

Does using v9 qualify me for federal stimulus money?

No. v9 incorporates new technologies that build a foundation for our certified version that positions you to receive federal stimulus money that you may apply for through the HITECH Act. It’s an investment of time better spent now, rather than later.

How do I sign-up for the required classes?

The new Web-based MyInstallCenter tool will guide your office through all of the steps of this upgrade. Registration for required classes will be done on MyInstallCenter, and as you complete them you will have a visual status of your office’s training progress.

What features does v9 offer?

Can I download or view a demo?

At this time, neither a demo download nor a video tutorial are available. You may stop by our booth at eyecare trade shows to see v9 in action.

What are the system requirements for Tablet PCs?

If my hardware does not meet the stated requirements, can I still upgrade to v9?

Added March 23, 2010.

You can download and install v9 without meeting the system requirements; however, you will likely experience performance issues. Performance issues can range from slow response times to system freezes and lock outs. We have carefully evaluated and documented these new hardware and system requirements to ensure that you to have the most successful experience with v9 possible.

Can I use v9 in a peer-to-peer or workgroup network environment?

OfficeMate/ExamWRITER v9 relies on Microsoft SQL server, which requires a client-server network. Peer-to-peer environments are not supported. Workgroup environments are not recommended if you have more than ten users; OfficeMate recommends using a domain environment if you have more than ten users because it is easier to manage user accounts. If you want to set up a workgroup environment, consult your certified network technician.

Can I use v9 in a virtual environment?

You can use OfficeMate/ExamWRITER v9 in a virtual environment. Please be aware, though, that we do not test any of our products in a virtual environment and we do not have any system requirements for virtual environments. If you want to use v9 in a virtual environment, consult your certified network technician.
