Bruce Benoy

Bruce joined OfficeMate Software Solutions when OSS acquired Delta Systems. He has 15 years of experience in information technology within the ophthalmic industry. Bruce has experience providing first tier support for 20 remote optical sites, troubleshooting insurance submission, processing accounts receivable reconciliation, and providing customer service.

Michelle Bonacci

Michelle joined OfficeMate Software Solutions with four years of experience using the OfficeMate Suite in an Independent optometric practice. Michelle has built on to her wealth of knowledge since joining OSS and is now one of our most prolific iCoach trainers.

Patti Chapman

Patti has both an extensive ophthalmic and systems background. Prior to joining OfficeMate Software Solutions, Patti worked as an optometrist within both a private practice and a large retail chain with locations in 16 states.

While working with the retail chain as a system administrator, Patti acted as liaison between the practice management software developer, the corporate management, and the IT department. Once the implementation decision was made, Patti conceived, developed, and executed an internal training program for all employees. Following the successful implementation, Patti jumped into planning and implementing third party processing, financial interfaces, lab interfaces, a data warehouse, and the point of sale system. Currently, Patti is an integral member of our third party processing development team

Diane Clark

Diane is a 30-year veteran of the optical industry and has held such positions as ophthalmic lab manager, retail optical manager, and licensed optician. Diane has worked in Independent optometric practices and retail optical dispensaries.

Her tenure with OfficeMate Software Solutions began in 2000. Diane is based in Ontario, Canada providing support via the telephone, the Internet, and occasionally, onsite. As a graduate of Seneca College for Ophthalmic Dispensing and Algonquin College for Technology developer course, Diane’s academic accomplishments perfectly support her role at OSS. On a personal note, Diane has participated in volunteer eye clinics in five countries located in Africa and Central and South America.

Kathleen Ewing

Kathy is one of Officemate Software Solutions University’s resident experts in ExamWRITER. Kathy joined us in April 2007 and is based in Salem, Ohio.
Prior to joining OSS, Kathy worked for 12 years in ophthalmology, six of which were with the largest ophthalmology practice in Northeast Ohio. During her term with this practice, Kathy held such positions as patient advisor, refractive coordinator, optometric liaison, and marketing assistant.

Kathy also worked in an Independent optometric practice as an optometric assistant and patient educator. To support her hands-on experience, Kathleen became a certified ophthalmic assistant in 1996.

Christine Featsent

Prior to joining OfficeMate Software Solutions, Christine worked for five years in a retail optical store. And, like you, she is well aware the full moon cycle brings out some more unusual characteristics in some patients. Her goal is always to make our clients’ training experience more comfortable and fun.

Janet Johnson

Janet fulfills a dual role with OfficeMate Software Solutions. She is Director of Software Development for OfficeMate Enterprise and Director of Client Services for the COS division.

Janet brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with over thirty years in the ophthalmic industry, licenses in two Canadian Provinces, and the successful completion of numerous management and training courses.

Janet’s prior roles include assistant lab manager, Essilor in Canada, retail supervisor for a large chain and retail product manager for CC Systems. In 2005, Janet joined OSS with the acquisition of CC Systems. Today, her skills are well employed as a project leader for OfficeMate Enterprise.

Rebecca Johnson, CPOT, COT, COE

Prior to joining OfficeMate Software Solutions as Director of Education, Rebecca owned and operated her own ophthalmic training and staff development consulting company. Rebecca has 25 years of experience in the ophthalmic field and has achieved certifications as an ophthalmic technician, paraoptometric technician, and an ophthalmic executive. Rebecca has acted as director and instructor of a CoA-OMP-accredited ophthalmic assistant program at Carver Career and Technical College and also as director of training at the Virginia Eye Institute.

Rebecca is a published author and was the editor of the third edition of The Self Study Course for Paraoptometric Certification. In 2007 Rebecca received the American Optometric Association Paraoptometric Special Service Award.

Katie Jordan

Katie honed her software implementation skills during her tenure at Northeastern Eye Institute, a 22 location business, offering ophthalmology, optometry, optical services and a surgery center under one umbrella. In 2001, Northeastern Eye Institute purchased Delta, a centralized point-of-sale system. Katie developed and wrote the user’s guide for using the Delta system. Armed with the user’s guides, Katie then trained each optician, store manager, and optical lab employee. Once the Delta implementation was complete, she began work on a centralized inventory project. Working closely with a Delta consultant, Katie created policies and procedures for Northeastern Eye Institute’s administration, stores, and central distribution center.

Valerie Manso, BA, ABOC, FNAO

With 25 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry, Valerie is a seasoned member of our training team. Prior to joining OfficeMate Software Solutions, Valerie held such positions as licensed optician, retail store manager, district manager, national training and development manager, director of lens consultants, director of marketing, and vice president of retail operations.

Valerie has worked with American Optical, Sola Optical, and Optical Dynamics. In 1992, Valerie started her own training and development company, and in 2003, Valerie was voted one of the top 50 women in the ophthalmic industry.

Valerie lectures at every Vision Expo (East and West).

Mary Kay Melvin

Mary Kay has over 15 years of experience in the ophthalmic industry. In addition to her years of experience, Mark Kay achieved American Board of Opticianry certification, became National Contact Lens Examiners certified, and is licensed to dispense spectacles and contact lenses in the State of Ohio.

Ted Shambrook

Ted is a 19-year veteran of the systems side of the ophthalmic industry. His long road to OfficeMate Software solutions started in 1989 as a Vision 2000 store systems advisor with LensCrafters International. Since then, Ted has continued to develop his systems expertise as the IT manager for another large retail chain and as a senior software consultant with CC Systems.

When CC Systems was acquired by OSS in 2005, Ted welcomed the challenge, made the move, and has masterfully satisfied the role of Senior Support and Implementation Consultant.

In 1995, Ted was the first Canadian to participate in a two week Gift of Sight mission to Panama. Ted and 14 other ophthalmic professionals performed refractions, medical examinations and dispensed used eyewear.

Marsha Vaughn

Marsha is the Manager of OfficeMate Software Solutions University (OSSU). Marsha and her team develop and present the prerecorded iTrain videos and the live iCoach sessions.

With over thirty years’ experience in the ophthalmic industry, it is easy to understand why Marsha is an integral part of our training efforts. Marsha’s prior experience includes roles within both commercial and independent ophthalmic businesses. She is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and by the National Contact Lens Examiners. Marsha is licensed to dispense spectacles and contact lenses in the State of California.

Prior to joining OSS in 2005, Marsha already had over seven years of experience working with OfficeMate software within a practice.

Phernell Walker, ABOM

Phernell is a Master in Ophthalmic Optics and a graduate of Hillsborough Community College, located in Tampa, Florida, with an associate in applied science degree in opticianry. Phernell is also board certified by the National Contact Lens Examiners. Phernell is the author of the textbook, Pure Optics, which is in its second edition.  He is an expert in advanced geometric and applied optics and serves as a faculty member for the American Association of Dispensing Ophthalmologists. In addition to his academic and literary accomplishments, Phernell was vice president of operations for a retail chain for 14 years.

In January 2004, Phernell was honored in Vision Monday’s “Forty under Forty,” list of forty of the nation’s brightest and innovative eyecare professionals in the country under the age of forty.

Rhonda Wunder

Rhonda’s entry into the ophthalmic industry dates back to a part-time position she held while attending high school and college in an independent optometric practice.

In 1993 Rhonda joined RLISYS, and during her tenure, filled such roles as customer service representative, software systems tester, software support representative and electronic claims trainer. Rhonda joined OSS when RLISYS was acquired in 2006.
