ExamWRITER Educational Events

The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act has appropriated approximately $19.2 billion in federal stimulus funds to accelerate the adoption of electronic medical records and the interoperability of health information technology. The federal stimulus funds are to be disbursed throughout the years 2009 through 2013. Under the legislation, Medicare will provide incentive payments of up to $44,000 over five years for doctors not based in hospitals who demonstrate "meaningful use" of certified EMR software starting in 2011.

It is our desire to assist you in effectively and efficiently using ExamWRITER, our electronic medical record solution. For this reason, we are dedicated to providing ExamWRITER Education Events throughout 2010. These courses are designed for doctors who have never used ExamWRITER and those who wish to use it more effectively. ExamWRITER electronic medical records courses address change management, the outlook of today's technology integrated practice, creating templates, efficient documentation practices, and document scanning.

Registration Information

Registration for the Beginning ExamWRITER course is $198 per person and registration for the ExamWRITER User course is $198 per person. Each of these two-day education and training courses includes breakfast, lunch, snacks, and course materials.

Cancellations and refunds, minus a $50 registration fee, are allowed up to one week before the educational event date.

*Dr. Ryan Wineinger, a graduate from The Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, a current optometrist at Wineinger Eyecare, located in Shawnee, Kansas, and an ExamWRITER expert users, will be coinstructing courses with OfficeMate Trainers. Dr. Wineinger thoroughly enjoys the technological side of optometry, and, in the past five years, has made concentrated efforts to bring in the latest equipment to ensure that his patients are receiving the highest level of comprehensive care possible.

Beginning ExamWRITER Itinerary

The ideal attendee of this course is someone who has not begun using, or has very limited experience with, ExamWRITER. This course will focus on getting started using EMR and ExamWRITER basics. Refer to the timetable below for the Beginning ExamWRITER itinerary.

ExamWRITER User Itinerary

The ideal attendee of this course is someone who has implemented ExamWRITER, but feels that he or she can be more efficient in EMR documentation. Attendees of Beginning ExamWRITER are encouraged to register for this course as well. Refer to the timetable below for the ExamWRITER User itinerary.

Q: Are there discounts for attending more than one class?
A: No.

Q: Will I get "hands-on" experience in the course?
A: We have made arrangements for you to bring your laptop so that you can follow along with the instructors. We will send you a Demonstration CD with the ExamWRITER program on it along with instructions on how to install it on your laptop. Please review the instructions carefully prior to installing the demonstration program. Your laptop must have the ExamWRITER demonstration program installed prior to the beginning of the course, as you will not have the opportunity to install the program or troubleshoot the installation during class time. The ability to receive wireless connection at the hotel is not guaranteed.
Important Note: You cannot have a working copy of ExamWRITER installed on your laptop; you must have the demonstration copy of the program installed on your laptop.

Handouts at all events will include ExamWRITER screenshots so that it will be easy for you to incorporate what you learned in the course in your practice.

Q: Do you have blocked hotel space?
A: We have a block of rooms reserved for the ExamWRITER Educational Event in Pittsburgh, PA, at the Crowne Plaza Pittsburgh International Airport. Rooms are $109 and must be reserved by September 27, 2010, to secure the discounted rate. The Crowne Plaza provides a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel.
