Q25573 - ERRMSG: Error: "Wait for Server Install"

If you receive a "Wait for Server Install" error while installing OfficeMate/ExamWRITER, the install isn't seeing specific files on the network that indicate the server has been completely installed. There are several possible reasons for this error, so you may need to work through several solutions to find the cause.

1. Check to See if the OfficeMate Server installer has completed the installation or upgrade.

If this is occurring while installing OfficeMate/ExamWRITER during an upgrade, confirm that the OfficeMate Server installation has already been completed successfully on the server. OfficeMate Server must be installed on the server before OfficeMate/ExamWRITER can be installed on any workstation.

2.Make sure OfficeMate and ExamWRITER are closed.

The OfficeMate/ExamWRITER installer cannot update files while either of the programs are open on the workstation

3. Ensure that User Account Control (UAC) is set to "Never Notify" and the PC has been rebooted since that setting was updated.

  1. On the affected workstation, navigate to the Windows Control Panel.
  2. Click User Accounts.
  3. Click Change User Account Control Settings.
  4. Click and drag the slider to Never Notify.
  5. Click OK to save and close the User Account Control Settings window.
  6. Restart the computer.

4. Check for multiple Omate32.ini files.

On the affected workstation, perform a file search (All Files and Folders) for duplicate copies of the Omate32.ini file. Delete the duplicates, leaving only the one Omate32.ini file in the Windows directory.

Also check the AppData and VirtualStore folders for duplicate Omate32.ini files:

  1. Navigate to the following folders:
    • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows
    • C:\Users\<username>USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows
Note: These folders may be hidden. You may need to copy the paths listed above and paste them into Windows Explorer. Be sure to replace <username> with the account name of the current user.w hidden files and folders
  2. You may need to show all files and folders the see the contents of these folders (see below).
  3. Delete any Omate32.ini files.

To show hidden files and folders, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the Tools menu at the top of the window and select Folders Options.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Locate the Hidden Files and Folders group.
  4. Select the Show hidden files, folders, and drives radio button.
  5. Click OK button to save changes and close the Folder Options window.

5. Make sure the shared Data directory is accessible.

  1. On the affected workstation, navigate to the Drive:\OfficeMate\Data, where "Drive" represents your network drive letter.
  2. If Windows prompts you to enter user credentials, select the Reconnect at logon check box.
  3. If the network location opens and the files and folders within are accessible, open OfficeMate and test functionality.
  4. If OfficeMate opens and functions normally, test the reconnect at logon functionality by restarting the workstation and opening OfficeMate again.

6. Compare drive mapping with a working workstation.

  1. If another workstation connects properly, navigate to Computer (or My Computer) on both the working and nonworking workstations.
  2. If the drive mappings are different, correct the drive mappings on the affected workstation.
  3. If the drive mappings are the same, copy the Omate32.ini file from the working workstation to the affected one.
  4. Open OfficeMate and test functionality.

7. Contact your practice's certified network technician to check the following:

  1. Verify that the Windows user has the appropriate Windows user permissions.
  2. Verify that the server's firewall and antivirus aren't blocking connections to the server.
  3. Verify that Named Pipes and TCP/IP are Enabled for the SQL Instance in the SQL Configuration Manager.
  4. Verify network connectivity to the server from the affected workstation(s).
  5. Verify permissions:
  • Assign the Everyone group Full Control (Share) permissions to the following DATA directories:
    • Drive:\OfficeMate\DATA (OfficeMate Enterprise upgrading users & OfficeMate/ExamWRITER 9.0 and above upgrading users)
  • On each workstation, assign the local or domain users List & Execute, Read, and Write (NTFS) permissions to the following directories:
    • Drive:\OfficeMate (OfficeMate Enterprise upgrading users & OfficeMate/ExamWRITER 9.0 and above upgrading users)
    • Drive:\Program Files\3D-Eye Draw
    • C:\Windows\omate32.ini
  • On each workstation, assign the local or domain users Modify, List & Execute, Read, and Write (NTFS) permissions to the following directories:
    • Drive:\OfficeMate\DATA (OfficeMate Enterprise upgrading users & OfficeMate/ExamWRITER 9.0 and above upgrading users)
