The Marco, Topcon, Huvitz, Eagle Eye, Reichert, and Humphrey ExamWRITER equipment interfaces save equipment data to the ExamWRITER database, which then can be accessed by all computers networked to look at that database.
Kowa, Optos, EyeScape, EyeTel, Heidelberg/HRT, Talia, ReSeeVit, Woodlyn, Konan, NIDEK, and Zeiss VISUPAC ExamWRITER interfaces save equipment data to the equipment's specific database and ExamWRITER reads those databases through the mapped drives.
The CenterVue ExamWRITER interface saves equipment data to the CenterVue database and ExamWRITER reads that database through a wireless or wired network connection.
All of the equipment data from the equipment interfaces, except the Humphrey Matrix, can be shared and accessed at multiple computers, as long as the computers are networked properly and the databases are properly mapped and shared. All of the equipment interfaces, except CenterVue, Humphrey HFA II-i, Vmax Vision PSF Refractor, Vmax Vision PFS Refractor, Zeiss FORUM, and the Zeiss VISUPAC, use a serial RS-232 cable or null modem to connect to the computer. The Humphrey HFA II-i, Vmax Vision PSF Refractor, Vmax Vision PFS Refractor, Zeiss FORUM, and the Zeiss VISUPAC are connected to the computer through a mapped network drive. CenterVue connects to the computer through a wireless router or wired Ethernet cable.
The Zeiss VISUPAC must be installed on the same computer as ExamWRITER.
The EyeScape, Heidelberg/HRT, Konan, Kowa, Optos, ReSeeVit, and Woodlyn equipment interfaces can only use one camera per Terminal Server. Note that when using these interfaces, you must install ExamWRITER and the camera software on the computer to which the equipment is connected; then you can install the camera software on the server on which ExamWRITER is installed. Contact the equipment vendor to determine if the camera software will run on an OS server and if any additional licensing needs to be purchased when using it with Terminal Server.
The EyeTel, Huvitz, Marco, Reichert, and Topcon equipment interfaces can use multiple serial ports per PC.
