You may receive error 339 if required system or program files are missing or not registered correctly.
If you receive an error 339 message (component 'MSCOMM32.OCX' or one of its dependencies is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid), ensure that all critical Microsoft Windows updates are installed on your workstation and then follow the instructions below for your operating system.
Windows XP Users
If you receive an error 339 message, follow the instructions below from each workstation displaying the error:
1. Close OfficeMate or ExamWRITER on the affected computer.
2. Open this computer's OMATE32 or OfficeMate folder (usually located at C:\OMATE32 or C:\OfficeMate).
3. Double-click ~OMRegAll.bat or ~Reg_9.0_OME_DLLs.bat (OfficeMate Suite 9.0 and above users).
4. Click Continue if prompted and then wait while the file runs.
5. When the .bat file is finished running, reopen OfficeMate or ExamWRITER.
Windows Vista & Windows 7 Users
If you receive an error 339 message, follow the instructions below from each workstation displaying the error:
1. Close OfficeMate or ExamWRITER on the affected computer.
2. Click Start and select Computer.
3. Open this computer's OMATE32 or OfficeMate folder (usually located at C:\OMATE32 or C:\OfficeMate).
4. Right-click ~OMRegAll.bat or ~Reg_9.0_OME_DLLs.bat (OfficeMate Suite 9.0 and above users) and select Run as Administrator.
5. Click Continue if prompted and then wait while the file runs.
Note: If you are unable to run .bat, even as the administrator, you may need to temporarily turn off User Account Control. For more information, go to the Knowledge Base article entitled, "User Account Control Error When Using the OfficeMate Suite on Windows Vista & Windows 7."
6. When the .bat file is finished running, reopen OfficeMate or ExamWRITER.
