 Summer Message from the President: New Horizons, Revenues, Profits, & More

The landscape of our industry is changing rapidly and with the changing landscape comes enhanced opportunities for you in many areas within your practice.

One major area of opportunity within optometry for OfficeMate clients is to practice medical model primary eyecare. You no longer have to settle for conducting a simple eye exam and selling glasses and contacts! “My Optometric office in Kainaliu, Hawaii, is designed as an optical boutique that offers our patients a ‘wow’ experience. We use the iPoint VTO system as both an educational tool for patients and an added selling tool for my staff.

The demonstrations of various tints, polarizations, and anti-reflection coatings make it very easy for my staff to upgrade patients and give them the best possible products for their needs.

The OSSU staff in Ohio is very excited about the changes that have taken place and are still in progress at OfficeMate Software Solutions. We welcome the members of the RLISYS staff that are learning to support and teach the OfficeMate products. This addition to our family will let us expand and improve our department. Future additions to our teaching schedule will include covering our latest software update, which is near to being released, iPoint (our virtual try-on software system), and the also soon-to-be-released OfficeMate VSP Interface. We are also pleased to let you know that we are going to expand our library of recorded iTrains to include a number of new “how to” sessions. Stay tuned! We look forward to being of service to you!

 Comprehensive Glaucoma Update Clinical Care & Coding
 

This unique seven CE hour (COPE approval pending) team-taught course will cover all pertinent aspects of clinical management, record keeping, and coding in glaucoma patient care. The course will set forth the essential elements of the comprehensive glaucoma diagnostic work-up, followed by specific guidance on medical management completed with expert guidance on record-keeping, billing, and coding issues. Clinical case presentations will integrate and solidify all of these critical elements. The faculty brings over 75 combined years of clinical expertise to this comprehensive glaucoma management course.

To ensure that your calls are routed correctly and receive a timely response, listen to and carefully select the option related to your call. When calling the Client Services phone number at 800.942.5353, option 1, you will hear the following options:

  • If you've licensed an OfficeMate and/or ExamWRITER product within the last 90 days, press 2.
  • If you are not able to open OfficeMate and/or ExamWRITER  from all PCs or if you are receiving an error message, press 3.
  • For all other calls, please continue to hold for the next available Client Services Representative.

Based on the option you choose, the phone system will route your call to the most qualified and available Client Services Representative. During your hold time, you will also receive suggestions and resources for answering to the most frequently asked questions. To receive quick answers to your questions and save you time waiting on the phone, log online and go to http://www.officemate.net/omkb/ before calling us to see if an answer to your question is already posted and available. It’s fast, easy, and convenient!

This upgraded phone system provides us with the ability to gather information regarding peak call times, call support durations, and much more. This information will allow us to provide quicker responses to your support questions.

 Windows Vista on the Horizon
 

Coming soon to a computer near you is the next generation of Microsoft Windows called ‘ Vista.’ This release has been delayed over the course of several years, but (keep your fingers crossed) should appear early next year. The most visible change in Vista is the introduction of a completely new ‘User Experience’ interface called Aero. Aero brings to Windows the glossy, 3D, iconic look that Apple has had for years. Screens can appear in 3D, fading in and out. The overall look is stunning! To power this new interface, you will need a newer ‘Windows Vista Capable’ system. Older systems will still be able to run Vista, but with far fewer visual effects. Windows Vista is a major upgrade and will take users some time to learn. Because of this learning curve, most businesses will not adopt Vista until there is a compelling reason. Software applications that use the new power in Vista are several years away. In the interim, OfficeMate Software Solutions is actively testing all of its products under Vista and will be fully prepared to support it when it is released. Last Fall we launched the OfficeMate Software Solutions online Knowledge Base to provide you with informative articles, instructions, and FAQs to help you use and troubleshoot issues in OfficeMate, ExamWRITER, ReportWRITER, various utilities, and the TIP products. We now have over 325 articles available to you on the Knowledge Base to answer your questions—and if we don’t have an article, we’ll create one quickly if you ask us!

To get the help you need while using any of our products without calling our Client Services phone number or sending them an e-mail, open your Internet browser and go to http://www.officemate.net/omkb/. Be sure and search through the Knowledge Base to see if your question (and its answer) has already been posted. To search the Knowledge Base, click the Search tab, enter your search criteria, and click Go. If you cannot find an answer to your question, click the Ask a Question! tab to send it to us. We’ll add it to the Knowledge Base and let you know when it’s available for you to read.

We highly suggest that you add the OfficeMate Software Solutions domain (officemate.net) to your safe senders list in your e-mail program. Adding us to your safe senders list will ensure that our e-mail messages and newsletters successfully arrive in your Inbox.

If you use Microsoft Outlook 2000 or higher, follow the instructions below to add the OfficeMate domain name to your safe senders list:

  1. Open an e-mail communication from OfficeMate Software Solutions.
  2. Click the Actions menu option at the top of the window.
  3. Select Junk E-mail.
  4. Select Add Senders Domain to Safe Senders List.
  5. Click OK after the sender is added to your safe list.
